RG Consulting and Advisory Expands Partnerships with FM Radio Group

This week, an agreement was formalized with a media group that owns FM radio stations. The scope of the project includes the preparation of monthly reports, over a 12-month period, with detailed data on listener behavior on a daily basis. The surveys will comprise audience tracking metrics, listening pattern analyses, competitor monitoring, and the identification of key factors influencing tuning and drop-off behavior, as well as information on consumption habits and preferred listening environments.

This database will significantly enhance the understanding of both the vulnerabilities and the strengths of radio. While part of the findings will be specific to the regions covered by the stations, many others will have broader applicability, highlighting strategic aspects that several broadcasters tend to overlook, thereby compromising their long-term sustainability.

The study will also include technical recommendations, such as the preliminary assessment of signal blockages. Among the proposed actions are the repositioning and possible modification of transmission towers in order to expand coverage and eliminate shadow zones that currently affect significant portions of the population.

It is worth noting that part of the research will focus on stations located in the states of Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte. The initiative is not intended to foster competition or opposition, but rather to deepen the understanding of audiences and provide actionable insights for sustainable audience retention.

Finally, an in-depth analysis of digital radio models will be conducted, enabling the group to adopt an informed institutional position when the regulatory debate advances in the country. At some point, inevitably, the sector will have to address this matter—either proactively, or as a result of external pressures.
